Still here!!

OK - so I must be addicted to blogging, where else am I going to show off my photos! Besides Hey Harriet has Shadow Shot Sunday #101 so here is the gum tree out the back.

In other news: A MAN has died and two others are in hospital after a boating tragedy off Two Rocks, north of Perth, this afternoon.
I saw the chopper go over Yanchep on the way to Two Rocks. Read more at Perth News

Books: 'Morgans Run' was such an engrossing read, didn't want it to end. Do hope Colleen McCullough continues with the family story - she says she will. Just picked up 'Vanishing Acts' by Jodi Picoult for 20cents so that's next.

Plotting for a Food Garden week 29 + Photo Hunt

Another bloody pathetic & boring photo of my square plot, in fact I've decided my blog is the same. So I may just give it a rest for a while, (after today).

The Saturday Photo Hunt theme is Addiction

Wikipedia "An addiction is a persistent behavioral pattern marked by physical and/or psychological dependency and tolerance that causes significant disruption and negatively impacts the quality of life of an organism." "Addictions are frequently linked to substance abuse, particularly psychoactive drugs such as narcotics, stimulants, and sedatives among others. It is common in coloquial English usage to extend the use of the term "addiction" to also encompass apparent compulsive behavior and passionate dedication to activities (such as hobbies) by analogy.

Unless I count the drugs obtained from my Doctor I have never been 'disrupted' by any stimulants. Whereas a 'passionate dedication to activities such as hobbies' I can admit to (as most of my friends would agree)! One of them being the collection of postcards.

Stamp P/Cs blu-tacked to the toilet door.

Shoe P/Cs blu-tacked to another door.
And hundreds in drawers...........

So I stopped.
I have other hobbies, such as family history, gardening, reading etc but I'm not going to bore you any more. Over & out!

Mellow Yellow Monday #65

A different kind of time/thyme share. Months ago a friend split a punnet of thyme with me. Mine grew, hers didn't so she has asked me to give her some back! Mine is growing so well I was able to pot up 3 in little yellow punnets & still have masses left.

Don't forget to visit MELLOW YELLOW MONDAY here.

Talking 'bout Books & Shadow Shot Sunday

A slight breeze was wafting over this shadow of seeding Garlic Chives. I have now cut all the heads off & put them in a paper bag to dry off. There are some wonderful shots of shadows here. Thanks Harriet.

Still reading 'Morgans Run' & what an engrossing novel it is. Highly recommended for depicting 'The First Fleet - the criminal, the unloved & the unwanted of English Society'.

Such a glorious day that I am debating whether to go for a swim or not. 29deg, blue skies & last day of the school holidays so it could be crowded.

3pm - 32 deg - come on in, the water is like Champagne.

Plotting for a Food Garden week 28 + Photo Hunt

My Egg Plant is flowering! I have been told to 'pinch back new blossoms about three weeks before the first expected frost'. No way will I do this, I want to see what happens - anyway we don't get frost here (says she crossing fingers).

The flowers are covered by the leaves so this lets me join in for the first time to

Photo Hunter whose theme #209 this week is 'covered' .

Mellow Yellow Monday #64

Bright YELLOW lockers at the rail station.

The dry has broken, a little bit of rain, just enough to dampen the seeds of Chinese Broccoli thrown in the plot this morning.
Yesterday was warm, last swim at 2pm, washing all dry, back for a cuppa & a read - nice.

Mellow Yellow Monday .

Today - full of hay (?) fever, again. Not nice.

Talking 'bout Books & Shadow Shot Sunday

Having finished (and surprisingly enjoyed) 'Adam and Eve and Pinch Me' by Ruth Rendell, I have immersed myself in 'Morgan's Run' by Colleen McCullough. Reading about Bristol, England in the late 1700s where one of my ancestors was born, the same streets, occupations and everyday living - most interesting. Big, thick book of 600 pages to enjoy sitting in the shadows of the sheoak (casuarina).

There are some wonderful shots of shadows here. Thanks Harriet

I get some gardening info & the above quote from here.
With lettuce costing almost $5 each I'm glad I have a few little ones still.

We may get RAIN next week.
Maybe today was the last day of swimming.

Great news just came through!!

Remember this ...................

Going, going, soon to be GONE
Wonderful news arrived in my email, from the Secretary Residents Association

"Hi All,
At last night's Council meeting, our Councillor, Laura Gray put forward a motion, seconded by our other Councillor, Norm Hewer, to have the whole of the aluminium structure of the Yanchep boardwalk removed completely.
I am very pleased to announce that this motion was carried unanimously, and we can now look forward to our pristine dunes at Yanchep being returned to their former glory.
I just wanted to add that I would like to thank all the Yanchep Residents for selecting option 2 and commenting on the aluminium, in the recent questionnaire. It was undoubtedly that result that lead the Council to make their tremendous decision to have the whole aluminium structure removed.
Although John Quigley's contribution cannot be overstated in getting this result, we should also give thanks to Emma Brennan of the North Coast Times / Weekender for all her support during this campaign.
When the Residents Association started it's campaign to have the Skybridge removed, many thought we were wasting our time, but this result is a clear indication that when we all pull together we can make a difference. Regards"

The Wednesday Whatsit

Don't all move - you're on Candid Camera.
(one live one!)

I'm thinking I might get a MEME going on 'The Wednesday What's It' & do a Mister Linky. It would entail posting something out of the ordinary, odd or just a bit different. Anyone interested?

Mellow Yellow Monday #63

Much fishing........

Much rubbish.........

And one Sting Ray (that big black blob in the water).

Luckily the lifesavers had moved the fisher people on.
The Lagoon should be made into a Nature reserve.

Everybody has more Yellow here.

Talking 'bout Books & Shadow Shot Sunday

Woken up tired & full of hay fever. Camera battery went dead yesterday so don't have many photos of the Zoo. The phone battery is also dead, the bread machine won't work as the washer has split so I think I'll just lay around and read, even though I can't see very well due to the hay fever.

I have never read a Ruth Rendell book, picked this one up at the Op shop (the day before I kept repeating the phrase/joke about Adam & Eve - Adam & Eve & Pinch me went down the river to bathe, Adam & Eve were drowned, who was saved? I remember falling for this a few times when I was a kid.) When I saw the book on the shelf the next day I just had to get it.

More Shadows here
